Transportation for College Students

electric bicyclesWhile having a car has its benefits in an urban sprawl, an electric bicycle is a much more affordable and efficient option for a college student. For one, college campuses are often laden with walking areas where cars cannot travel. Because of this, often students are forced to park their car in a parking lot, and walk to their classes. However, with electric bicycles, it’s possible to traverse the campus, and even avoid the expensive costs of parking. Let’s face it, car insurance is a real concern for a college student. Even those who have a perfect driving record pay an arm and a leg when compared to adults over the age of 30. With an electric bicycle, there’s no need to pay expensive car insurance dues, and that savings can be spent on books, tuition, or even entertainment! Electric bicycles can also travel significant distances on a single charge, and are great for traveling throughout the city while avoiding traffic and the cost and inconvenience of parking.

While there’s not a lot required to use an electric bicycle, it is necessary to have a solid bike lock. Don’t even bother with the reinforced cables, make sure to get a U shaped bar lock. These are the safest and will ensure the bike is secure while it is parked on campus.

electric powered bicycles

There are numerous different factors that led to our current state of environmental pollution and climate change, but perhaps the largest contributor is automobiles. It’s a fact that all automobiles that run use petrol pollute the environment through releasing carbon into the atmosphere. But of recent, consumers have started to push back, demanding vehicles with cleaner emissions that don’t harm the environment. The major automobile manufacturers are all working on cars that are more gasoline efficient, and cars that run on alternative fuels. Electric power is one of the cleanest sources of energy, and while hydroelectric dams can cause some amount of pollution and can be of harm to native marine species, the impact is much less than that of automobiles.  There are electric cars, electric scooter, and even electric powered bicycles that are all sensible options for reducing our impact on the environment.

While these vehicles aren’t designed for cross country travel, they’re great for all those day to day tasks driving around town. In addition, as more companies start to shift their focus towards electric vehicles, the technology will advance and one day provide the same benefits as automobiles that are powered through fossil fuels.

electric powered mopeds

With the high gasoline prices today, many people are looking for more efficient ways to travel, especially over short distances. Here are a few methods of efficient travel that are quick and won’t break the bank.

~Bicycles: the classic pedal machine, for short trips to the grocery or corner store it doesn’t waste gas, doesn’t pollute, and is also part of a healthy lifestyle.

~Electric Mopeds: for longer distances, electric powered mopeds are not a bad way to get around. With a helmet, they’re safe for kids and teens and can allow them to visit friends or nearby locations without parental transportation.

~Motorcycles: for adults and can be a more permanent solution for gasoline efficient travel. The typical motorcycle can get upwards of 60 mpg. They are great for getting to work or even traveling longer distances, as long as you don’t need to accommodate other passengers.
